Santino! Thank you for detailed analysis and advice for my team!
I will look for the Steals/points/rebounds from now on.
8-Team Roto 9-Cat Redraft, 10 active, 5 bench (I picked first)
I'll go positionally (draft slot in brackets)
Kemba Walker (16)
Kyle Lowry (65)
Mike Conley (33)
Dejounte Murray (W)
Jrue Holiday (17)
Jamal Murray (T)
Robert Covington (49)
Kelly Oubre (80)
Otto Porter Jr (64)
Anthony Davis (1)
Jon Collins (32)
Marvin Bagley (W)
Lamarcus Aldridge (48)
Thomas Bryant (81)
Jaren Jackson Jr (W)
A lot of injuries and under-performers at the moment, but I was able to trade for / pick up JJJ,MBIII and both Murray's using my last four picks so I'm feeling good from a depth standpoint. A little weak in assists, a little too strong in blocks and FT.
I'm looking to make some 2-for-1's to land another top-30 player (or two) now. Maybe packaging JJJ and Jamal Murray for an upgrade at SG (I only have two SG's) like Donovan Mitchell,Booker etc.
Would love your thoughts on the team and any suggestions on 2-for-1's I could pitch.
Thanks!
No problem. And those cats would seem like the most attainable since you said you are near the top of the league in four others, and you aren't bad in the areas I mentioned but could stand to improve there a bit to help round out your team
Hey man, thanks for commenting. You have made a few savvy moves already, and I would continue to make moves if you can. Continue to send 2-1 and 3-1 offers for star players. It's an eight man league that rosters less people than a normal standard league, so free agency is always going to be stacked up with hot short term pickups and long term pickups. Making the end of your bench easily replaceable on any given week. The only problem is that if you have too much depth, it's hard to do this strategy. In this league-size being top-heavy is so much more valuable than depth. For example, you added J Murray for a late-round pick and added Bagley and JJJ off waivers. That alone shows how easily talented can be found on the waiver in this league. Everyone besides AD would be expendable in the right trades. I'd look into the possibility in getting Towns and Butler first. A Kemba and Aldridge offer might get you Towns, but if not you'll know how close you are. You have enough firepower to do so. Then Beal and Simmons, Trae and Mitchell I would also look at. There's a possible chance you can get Brogdon at a slight discount as well. If you can land some of the big guys then you can try and buy people low or add more through free agency. Fox, Hield, LaVine and Bledsoe may be a few guys to get at discounts. I'd tend to prefer being on the receiving end of the 1 player and giving up two, and that is especially the case in an 8 teamer.
Hi,
New premium member. The league I play in is a 12 team H2H points in Yahoo. Thinking of making some moves to improve my current squad. I'm 5-0 right now. Thanks for the feedback.

Hey guys, I'm looking at my team and Im trying to see if I need to fill in the gaps or strengthen my defensive categories....
I've lost to this guy that averages 50 blks and 40 steals for 6 straight weeks. I've been looking at other teams and seeing their build, and it makes me want to re build my team in order to beat the #1.

Hey man! Congrats on the hot start and keep up the excellent work! You have some good players and I like what you have done with the team. If you are looking to make improvements, I would try and swing a deal for another superstar to pair with Harden. DeRozan would be the major piece in the offer from your end. I'd look to first guage the interest of him and FVV together and see what you can get. Could even add JV to that offer and check. Dependin on the needs and record of the teams in your league, there's a realistic chance you could get a stud with that package. Nunn would be another guy I'd look to move if you can. He can be a piece in different trade. DeRozan would be the guy I'd be looking to move in any trade though. He has name value and he's been good so far, he is definitely a worthy piece the center a trade offer around for an upper echelon guy. See what Towns, AD, and Beal owners are looking for. If there's a team really struggling in the standings with an elite guy, try to go after them first. They'll probably be more inclined to deal for depth than someone with a winning record, or someone who's ready to get IR/SUSP guys back.
Harden is untouchable. I wouldn't even entertain offers without two top-20 players. Bam and Sabonis should stay put. Holiday is an intriuging guy to seee what you can get for him in an offer.I wouldn't be opposed to throwing him in with DeRozan for a top-5 player. I'd hang on to Mitch. He's been struggling, but the potential for elite is still there, and you won't get an adequate return for that. House and Fultz are solid guys to have, and I'd try not to add them into deals as "throwins" another owner might ask for.
Hey man, good to have you here! You can never be too content with your current roster. There is always a beneficial trade or pickup lurking that will improve your team. That said, you have a pretty good squad. You had a few guys miss time, (Bagley, Ibaka, Looney, Mitch and Rubio all missed various games) but they are all back now with the exception of Bagley who is getting close.
Defensive numbers are my absolute favorite. I always gravitate towards defensive stats more than offensive (outside the obvious studs). IYou don't look too bad in the cats though. Drummond is a superstar on that end, and Mitch has rare elite ability if he can just stay on the floor. Ibaka will give you at least a block per game and Bryant should hover around one. Cov is a do-it all guy on the defensive end and Tucker is a worse version of Cov. Looney should be helpful when he gets up to speed and Bagley could be solid there as well. And your two top guards get thefts.
Depending on what you are trying to do there are a few guys who may be available in free agency that can help defensively.
For steals: Dunn, Payton, Bembry, Mikal Bridges, PBev, frank N, Fultz.
For blocks: Theiss, Howard, McGee, Poeltl, Time Lord, Zubac
For both: Noel, WCS
As you can see the options aren't too appealing, and steals are easier to find than blocks. If Noel is there he's a good target.
As for trades, you have defensive capable guys, but if you want to take another step there, look into the availability of guys like Simmons, Butler, Bam Bam, Oubre, OGA, Whiteside, Holmes, Capela, JJJ, Clarke and WCJ. They're all pretty attainable players that you could find yourself acquiring at a fair price. There's more guys out there but these are some to consider.
In addition to that, I would continue to scour the waiver wire whenever someone gets hurt or there is a changing of the guard. For instance Tyus Jones could get you steals while Morant is out (Melton has also looked good) and Cheick Diallo will have value this week without Baynes. Guys like Christian Wood produce when they get minutes and Bruce Brown racks up defensive stats whenever his backcourt guys sit out (mainly D Rose). Depending on the how many pickups and if you appear on the team the same day, you can always stream to get more defensive numbers for that week in addition to trades and other moves.
I hope this helps. You can always DM me on Twitter if you need any advice, I get those notifications and respond more there.

Would love to hear your thoughts. Obviously, dealing with injury issues.
Drew
Hey Santino! Checking in after a couple months now with an update on my team after some trades--I'm feeling a slight twinge of buyer's remorse for one and better about the other one, would love to get your take. My league is 12 team H2H 9 cat:
Lillard
Lowry
Beal (traded Gobert for him when he was slumping a bit, this is the one that underpinned blocks for me that I'm regretting slightly...only slightly)
Siakam
Mitch Rob
Horford (just traded Brogdon for him, I had been selling him for a bit and this was the ultimate winner after whiffing on Myles Turner, Thomas Bryant, others)
Paschall
Olynyk
Miles Bridges
Danuel House
Ingles (streaming him, just picked up and will probably drop for next hot free agent if he's not getting it done)
Eric Bledsoe
Looney
I think that Looney and Horford will shore up some of the defensive stats I gave away with Gobert, but right now I'm wondering if I am gonna be elite in any category like I was at the beginning of the year in that regard with percentages and 3s. Should I be trying to sell on Miles Bridges or anyone else to shore that up? I feel like I'll fare only so-so against playoff competition in FT, Blocks, and Steals as currently constituted, and some of the other top teams in my league are extremely strong there for now. I'm also weirdly kicking myself for dropping Bertans before getting on his heater, haha. Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks again!!
9-cat/h2h/2-center/12-team league
Roster:
Luka, Kristaps, Delon, Fox, Bagley, Barnes, Zion, Jrue, Tristan, House, Paschall, Melo, Culver, Damian Jones
Recommend any changes?
(thin) Waiver wire:
Huerter, Reddish, DPowell, Lonnie Walker, Melton, Wood, Zeller, Biz, Elf, Birch
Hey Drew, hope all is well.
It's a solid team for the long-haul, but one that isn't likely to make waves this year. The loss of Curry is unfortunate and it also hurts Russell as the Warriors seem like they'll sit him if he gets a papercut the morning of game day. That's two of I'm assuming your top four picks that derailed the season. With that said, the youth on the team is promising and one that I can get behind. I like LeVert, SGA, JJJ, and Curry will be back. Covington is a top-50 guy when he can stay healthy and Capela does his thing. You have some more guys that are intruiging long term guys as well if they can get the time in Goga and Simons, and we can throw Noel into this group as a vet we know what he's capable of when he is given the opportunity. Paschal and Herro are having good rookie seasons, and as bad as Randle has been, he's still the first option on a bad team (though while that doesn't work for him and isn't a recipe for success, it still gives a decent fantasy floor). House and Olynyk are solid for now, but if you decide to pack it in you should look to move them, maybe as second players in trades involving Lowry and DeRozan. I'd look to package even them 2/3/and even all 4 of them for a singular upgrade. There will be people on free agency that you'll want to pick up eventually, and that's especially true in dynasty formats.
This is all hypothetical, assuming that the injuries catch up to you and you aren't likely to compete for a title this year. If you can overcome the injuries and put/keep yourself in contention this year, then I'd say to go for it all.
D. Wright and Jones are droppable in that order. Depending on how many pickups you have per week, type of free agent system you have (I personally am not a fan of waivers and nor of leagues where you pick someone up and they aren't on you team until the next day), and particular stats you are looking to boost on a given week is how I would approach my pickups. Having Fox, Zion, and Bagley (Though he's on the cusp of returning) all out, I'd go with the streaming option for now. And since it's only 2 Centers and you only have 3, I guess you'll be more inclined to have to keep Jones or replace him with Powell/Birch. Collins is a little over two weeks out from returning so Jones' value is almost up anyway. If you decide not to stream and want to make a move I'd rank the above guys as such, at this time: Melton, Birch, Powell, Huerter, Payton, Walker. Players values change on a dime due to a multitude of factors so continually keep up with it. Right now Melton has had three straight very solid games in the absence of Morant, while outplaying Tyus Jones. While I don't think he's the most talented of the group, with his recent play and Morant staring at a multi-week absence he tops the list at this moment of guys you mentioned.
Hey Tyler nice to have you back.
You got the better player in Beal. Yes Gobert is a top-notch center giving you elite production in some stats, but you're not going to get Beal for free. You have to give up something for him, and I think you got the better end of the deal. Give yourself some credit haha! It's funny though, as I like that deal but would rather have Brogdon than Horford. I'd rather have him much more than Bryant even if his injury wasn't there. With that said, having Dame, Beal, Lowry and Bledsoe I can see why you wanted to get another big for him. Overall I like your team. Your guards are obviously strong, and you have a solid crop of bigs. You can use another, but eventually that guy will pop out of the blue if you continue to stay on top of free agency. Hopefully, Looney will get back up to speed soon and Kerr won't treat him with kid gloves. He can get you some of those defensive stats back that you want. If you can sell Bridges off for an improvement, then yeah, I'd do that. Or if he's an add in a trade for an upgrade I wouldn't hesitate to do so. There must be a few guys in free agency that can help out with it being a standard league, in addition to opening up a streaming spot (depending on league settings), which gives you another way to tack on extra stats for any given week. Ingles is a solid short term add and yeah, when Conley gets back he can be dropped. Olynyk is playing better, but he would be my second drop if you needed someone. He's not bad, but he's also not must-hold in a standard league. Continue to look at some trades and see what your options are for another defensive specialist or big man. I think you have a pretty well rounded team overall.
