Williamson 300: Top 300 Fantasy Baseball Players

  • Hello fantasy baseball fans!

    Welcome to the Williamson300!

This was the hardest, most stressful and yet, the most fun I have had doing fantasy baseball content.

I say this a lot on the podcast, Fantasy MLB Today, because it is true.

It is an honor and a privilege to bring y’all the best fantasy baseball content I can possibly produce to help y’all win your leagues.

So, before we get into the ranks, let me explain a little behind my reasoning.

First, these ranks are good for traditional five-category leagues. That’s ERA, WHIP, wins, saves and strikeouts for pitchers and batting average, homers, RBI, runs scored and stolen bases for the hitters.

Second, I tried to value counting stats for hitters more than average as there are four counting stats and one ratio for hitters while pitchers have two ratios (ERA and WHIP) that matter for them.

Third, I tried to be ‘injury agnostic with the ranks. That doesn’t mean I’m putting Mike Trout and Jacob deGrom near the top, I do bake in injury risk to the ranks, but I tried to not fade a player too much, just because of the injury concern. Look at Chris Sale from last year. If I had faded him too far, I would have missed out on him. Tyler Glasnow was a top 20 arm in just over 20 starts.

Fourth, I do kind of project who I think will open the season as the starter. So, Christian Encarnacion-Strand has a chance to not start in Cincy. It would be crazy for them to not start him, so I do have him higher than some others. But of course, if it looks like I’m wrong as we move along in the off season, I’ll make the change.

    Speaking of changes…

Fifth, I will be updating my rankings constantly in the lead up to the season. There will be numerous factors that will play into me changing my ranks.

    • I just change my mind – There are tons of players, in particular between 150-300, that have very minimal differences that separate them. And there are so many different stats and ways to view those stats. So, I may move a guy up and down as I reconsider. But know this, MOST of my changes will come from…
    • New announcements – if we learn of a trade, a new signing, etc. I will change my ranks accordingly.
    • Spring training – if we get into spring training and a pitcher is looking sharp coming off an injury (Shame McLanahan) or they don’t look the same. Or maybe we learn a certain player is working hard on lifting the ball more to garner more power, or they are being more selective in their approach to the plate. Whatever it is, I’ll make the necessary change.
    • Injury updates – there are a good number of top players that we don’t really know when they’ll be 100% ready to go in regular season games. So, if it is announced that Spencer Strider is going to be back sooner than we thought, I’ll be moving him up

Also, I’ll be updating the full 300 with blurbs of analysis for each player listed.

Without further ado, here are my top 300 fantasy baseball players for the 2025 season!
