Wow. What a difference a year makes. Year two of the Mike McDonald era in Seattle was more successful beyond anyone’s dreams. The Seahawks went from an upstart 10-7 in 2024 with questions at the quarterback position to the most dominant team in the league in 2025 with very few holes to fill. The Seahawks may have had a dominant defense to rely on, but make no mistake, their offense did more than its share as well. They finished inside the top 10 in three of the four major per game team statistical categories (total yards, passing yards, and points), while finishing 11th in rushing yards per game. At the start of the year, the Seahawks had decided to move on from Geno Smith and give the reigns to Sam Darnold coming off a career year in Minnesota. While Darnold didn’t entirely match it, he turned in a 4000 yard passing season with 25 touchdowns and 14 interceptions and for a while was one of the better quarterbacks in fantasy football until his play from a fantasy perspective tapered off late in the season. Darnold returns again though and the Seahawks also return reigning Offensive Player of the Year Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who followed up his breakout 2024 season with an even more monstrous 2025 season. JSN’s 2025 was historically good. He was held to single digit fantasy points once all season, and it was in a blowout win where the defense scored five touchdowns. Outside of that, he was held to under 15 fantasy points just two other times in half PPR formats. JSN will likely again be the focal point of the Seahawks’ offense in 2026. The Seahawks will also return Cooper Kupp and Rashid Shaheed. Kupp had a disappointing statistical year by his standards and he will hope to rebound. Shaheed was a major trade deadline acquisition whose production also fell by the wayside once he came to the Seahawks. They will need all three as well as tight end AJ Barner as they search for what to do in the running game.
The Seahawks strength last season was their ability to keep defenses off-kilter. The 50-50 run/pass split was surprising with a mid-tier o-line, but clearly it worked as the team won the Super Bowl. Gone are Ken Walker and Klink Kubiak, so expect the run game to take a hit as the offense will likely roll out a three-headed RB attack of Jadarian Price, Emanuel Sanders and Zach Charbonnet. Good luck guessing which one has a 50% snap share. SEA was a true anomaly, finishing 29nd in passing attempts, but 5th in WR scoring in FPPG. That sort of efficiency will keep your offense afloat as they were 3rd in scoring (28.4 PPG) for the season while also scoring the most points in franchise history (483). It’s impossible to top that in the follow up season, but the core remains intact and JSN proved he is a true one-man band. JSN has improved his rec yards in by at least 500 yards in each season while also increasing his yards-per-reception. He’s never missed a game and racked up at least 100 yards in eight of the first 11 games. All that matters is can he do it again. SEA traded for Rashid Shaheed, but he’s not a volume player and Cooper Kupp was past his prime three seasons ago. It’s JSN’s world and if the offense becomes a little more pass-heavy, he could top the 163 targets from a year ago. The only tough part is he led the league with an absurd 36% TS, nearly 4.5% more than Amon-Ra St. Brown. No one has been close to that number since Michael Thomas in 2019 with 33% and we saw how his career went. The high volume is what makes him so attractive, but it could also be his downfall. I’m betting on JSN since he’s been healthy his whole career and that isn’t luck, it’s an acquired skill.Seattle Seahawks: Win Prediction 12-5
