2025 saw a Giants franchise find some moxy with the rookie duo of quarterback Jaxson Dart and running back Cam Skattebo. Dart was sent to the medical tent several times throughout the season for potential head injuries thanks in part to refusing to go out of bounds or slide. Skattebo suffered a severe right ankle dislocation, a ruptured deltoid ligament, and an open tibia fracture in week 8. These two coupled with Nabers season ending injury (keep reading for more on him) were too much for former head coach Brian Daboll to overcome, and he was relieved of his duties after a loss to the Chicago Bears dropped their record to 2-8. Mike Kafka was promoted to interm HC, fired DC Shane Bowen almost immediately, and ended up doing a not-awful job all things considered. This paved the way for Big Blue to land a Super Bowl winning head coach in John Harbaugh after he was let go by Baltimore. Real change feels like its coming for the first time in a long time, with Harbaugh reporting directly to ownership rather than GM Joe Schoen. For context, the Giants have never operated this way in their 100+ year history as a franchise.

Malik Nabers was primed to make the leap into the upper echelon of receivers until a multi-ligament knee injury ended his season just as it was getting started. Undersized receiver Wan’Dale Robinson broke out for his first 1,000 yard season that also saw him have a career high in yards per reception at 11.0, proving he is capable of more than dink and dunk routes that led to an abysmal average depth of target (4.9 yards) and a league low 7.5 YPR in 2024. He promptly followed Daboll to Tennessee this offseason, leaving the depth behind Nabers razor thin. The names include third round rookie Malachai Fields, and veterans Darnell Mooney, Calvin Austin, longtime frenemy Darius Slayton, the near (total?) empty tank of Odell Beckham, Jr., amongs a hodge podge of whoever.

And finally, finally, FINALLY, the G-men seem to have put together a competitive, if not potential top ten offensive line. Taking a chance on veteran journeyman right tackle Jermaine Eluemanor seems to be the skeleton key that unlocked stability. The front office was smart to secure their bookend to left tackle Andrew Thomas to a three year deal. They doubled down on continuing to bolster the offensive front by using the 10th pick in April’s draft to select Miamk offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa, who is expected to slot in at right guard to start his career. This, along with what should be a fierce pass rush, is looking to be one of the few strengths for New York. Imagine saying that two years ago!
