Fantasy Football 2026: How Aggressively Should You Draft First-Round Rookie WRs?

Since the turn of the decade, we have seen at least four wide receivers go in the first round of the NFL draft in every single season. This one was no exception as we saw five. While they may not possess the game breaking names of some previous years, these five are still going to be able to bring potentially instant fantasy value to managers and in this piece we will discuss how aggressively to target each of them.
- Carnell Tate – 4th Overall Pick – ADP 62.5 – More Aggressively
Tate has arguably the best chance to finish in the top 20 overall by the end of the season as he is the one of these five who can instantly jump his team’s depth chart and become the number one receiver immediately. However he will have to compete with second year guys Elic Ayomanor and Chimere Dike for that spot. An ADP of 62.5 pits him in the 6th round, Tate can be targeted a little more aggressively than that, a 5th round pick on him would be justifiable. The Titans are planning on a second-year bump from Cam Ward, but it’s more likely they are a year away. It is a similar situation to Tetaroia McMillan last season where the talent at WR is elite, but the rest of offense might struggle to catch up. If Ward is ready and/or makes the leap, Tate could be destroy his ADP.
- Jordyn Tyson – Saints – ADP – 71.6 – Less Aggressively
It was a spirited debate over who the better receiver coming out of the draft was between Tate, Tyson, and Makai Lemon. This writer is going to exercise a little personal bias here and say it was Tyson. Tyson was the most pro-ready prospect coming out. He ran every single route in the book well, he always found himself open, and was borderline unstoppable for a season and a half, including his final season where he was the focal point of every team’s defensive game plan. He even spent every single day being coached by a great NFL wide receiver in Hines Ward. However, there are a couple of factors here that should make fantasy managers tread lightly. The first thing being his health. He’s suffered a pair of significant injuries in back to back seasons, so availability is an issue. The next is his current situation. In New Orleans last season we saw the re-emergence of Chris Olave who went for over 1,000 yards in a mostly healthy 2025. He received a massive contract extension and is the clear number one option. Tyson’s been getting fifth to sixth round value, but should be going more towards the eighth and ninth rounds at this point. The Saints are up-and-coming and in a pass-first offense, but if Olave stays healthy, will there be enough meat for Tyson to break through.
- Makai Lemon – Eagles – ADP – 77.9 – More Aggressively
