Week 8 Injury Roundup for Fantasy Football

Quarterback

Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley and Joe Fagnano – Ravens – Thumb/Toe/Ankle – After missing a few weeks due to an ankle injury, Jackson suffered a dislocated thumb on the Ravens’ very first play from scrimmage. Jackson went immediately to the locker room and did not return. The team has announced he will have surgery and be placed on season ending injured reserve.  Huntley entered the game immediately after and he left the game just one minute into the second quarter after suffering a toe injury and did not return. Huntley suffered a turf toe injury that will require surgery and he is going to miss the remainder of the season. The Ravens had to enter their emergency quarterback Fagnano to complete the game. Fagnano suffered an ankle injury in the game but according to head coach Jesse Minter, he has a chance to play on Thursday. Making matters worse for Baltimore, they have to play on Thursday night so on such short notice, it’s likely he will have to start. This week could be must sit for Ravens’ pass catchers. Managers may not have other options to replace Derrick Henry, but starting Ravens’ pass catchers this week will have to be carefully considered.

Kyler Murray – Vikings – Hamstring – Murray is dealing with hamstring soreness and is listed as day to day at the moment. Despite the Vikings’ 6-1 record, Murray has struggled and yesterday was no different as he struggled against a Lions defense that has struggled for most of the season. If Murray is unable to play in Week 9, Carson Wentz would be the starter. He was good in Week 1 in replacement duty, he struggled in Week 2 in a sloppy weather game, but Week 9 presents a favorable matchup against the Bills and a defense that has struggled stopping anything outside of an emergency quarterback so far this season.

Deshaun Watson – Browns – Concussion – Watson was placed in the league’s concussion protocol on Wednesday morning giving him a very limited chance to play on Sunday. Should he not play, Shedeur Sanders would be in line to start for the Browns. Sanders did have one huge fantasy game last year but other than that it was seven duds. There are other more viable quarterbacks managers can find on the waiver wire.
