I love playing video games, and even more so sports video games. Basketball, soccer, football, hockey, baseball — I’ve played them all. One thing that always frustrated me about them was how unrealistic the gameplay was compared to the actual sport. I will attempt to look up realistic slider settings, but I have found those insufficient to fulfill my craving.

Instead, I find myself gravitating to dynasty modes or GM modes, where I have complete control over trades, contract negotiations, scouting, drafting, and everything else it entails. I can ignore the gameplay aspects and focus on the team building dynamic where I find true joy. In turn, I think this is why I find dynasty fantasy basketball so appealing. I adore building my squad up, finding hidden gems, executing trades in my favor…and yes, beating my league mates and coming out on top.

Below, I detail my thought processes and strategy to approaching dynasty league, from the startup draft to managing the day-to-day aspects. Whether you are an old pro or just getting into dynasty, I hope you can glean something from ‘The Ultimate Dynasty Strategy Handbook.’
