How’d We Get Here?
The Pistons were one of the very worst teams in the league last year and for a time looked like one of worst teams in the history of the league. Ownership bit the bullet and will pay Monty Williams a boatload of money to sit at home, but they had no choice after last season. They didn’t make a splashy hire in going for JB Bickerstaff, but it can’t possibly be worse. New voices are in the front office as well and the Pistons certainly operated with a new sense of purpose, making it a mission to add some real shooters to give their young prospects space to breathe. They may not be a postseason team this year or next or the year after that, but the Pistons at least appear to be pointed in the right direction again.
