How’d We Get Here?
The Pelicans were a Zion Williamson injury away from locking up a playoff spot, but it wasn’t meant to be. Their big summertime move was to go get Dejounte Murray out of Atlanta, trading away Dyson Daniels and some roster filler. The Pels also chose to let Jonas Valanciunas walk and couldn’t find a way to retain Naji Marshall. They enter the season with a smaller, more dynamic team, but will be asking for a few young players to step up and deliver. New Orleans needed a shake-up and went for it by adding an All-Star guard, but it remains to be seen if that’ll be enough in a stacked Western Conference.
