There is good news for hitters again this week as a late summer warm pattern brings slightly warmer than average air to most stadiums. Many games will be played between 75 and 85 degrees so there isn’t much separation between the “targets” and “avoids” in the week ahead. Also, these temps can be a nice little boost to hitters but they’re a far cry from peak summer conditions when many games were played above 90 degrees.
Sadly, this weekend marks 2025’s final games at two of our most beloved hitting parks: Coors Field and Steinbrenner Field. On the bright side, next week brings us games at two other hitter-friendly stadiums: Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati and Sacramento’s Sutter Health Park.
TARGETS:
This Weekend’s Best Hitting Environments
- Boston at Tampa Bay (Friday-Sunday; the week’s best combination of heat – about 86 degrees – and humidity for each game with surprisingly low chances of rain)
- Milwaukee at St. Louis (Friday-Sunday; favorably warm weather with temps near 82 each game although there is a small chance of thunderstorms)
- Chicago Cubs at Cincinnati (Friday-Sunday; it will be warm with temps between 82 and 86 80 degrees for the whole series)
- LA Angels at Colorado (Friday-Sunday; 75-80 degrees at Coors Field all weekend makes this series a no-brainer for stuffing your teams with a full load Angels and Rockies hitters)
Targets for Early Next Week:
- Washington at Atlanta (Monday-Wednesday; good dose of warmth and humidity as temps hit 82 degrees each day)
- Houston at A’s (Tuesday-Thursday; excellent 80-85 degree temps for each game)
Those are the best games to target. Now let’s see which ones to avoid during the next seven days:
