We’re looking at streamers each week for the rest of the season to help you reach the not-too-distant H2H playoffs. You can also use these hitter and pitcher streamers to boost your Roto categories as the season heads toward its final weeks.
NOTE: We’ll focus on roster rates of 40% or less as shown in Yahoo.
HITTERS
Here are this week’s streaming themes:
– The Rockies are on the road all week. No Coors. No fun.
– The A’s play seven games at their hitter-friendly stadium in Sacramento
– The Twins and Orioles are the two lucky teams that face the A’s
– By playing seven home games against the lowly Rockies and the Marlins, the Nationals face just one good pitcher all weekLawrence Butler – OF – A’s – 48%
I’m breaking my 40% roster rate rule with this one but it’s important to consider Butler this week. Although he hasn’t had a good year, he has been MUCH better at home where his .782 OPS is over 250 points higher than his road mark. Also, he has been better over the past two months as his average went from a dreadful .158 in early June to .216 this week.
Jeff McNeil – 1B/2B/OF – A’s – 19%
Butler’s teammate Jeff McNeil benefits from the same seven-game home schedule. He hits better at home but his home/away splits are not nearly as dramatic as Butler’s. The main attraction with McNeil is that he has been hitting very well lately. Entering this weekend, he was hitting .320 since July 1. McNeil hits left-handed but does pretty well against lefties, so the one lefty on this week’s schedule could be a non-issue. He’s eligible at three positions so it should be easy to work him into your lineup.
