Working the Waiver Wire – Streamers Edition: September 12

    Psst, hey you, over there. Yes, you. Don’t tell the bosses, but I’m merging our Waiver Wire and Streamer reports this week. After all, with little more than two weeks remaining in the season, the line has blurred between viewing a player as a rest-of-season waiver claim versus a short-term streamer. Regardless of which title you prefer, let’s see who is poised to help our teams as we head toward the 2026 finish line.

    HITTERS

    Ty France – 1B – Padres – 31%
    Xander Bogaerts – SS – Padres – 29%

    First of all, Ty France deserves more love than a 31% roster rate. He’s hitting .294 this season with 20 homers and 63 RBI in just 120 games. I like to evaluate recent performance, too, and he checks that box well by hitting .299 during the past 30 days.

    Bogaerts hasn’t been nearly as good as France. He has hit just .205 in the past month and .218 overall but he does have some speed and power (20 thefts and 11 homers). However, the reason to consider him in addition to France is their schedule. After this weekend’s series in San Francisco, the Padres enjoy a four game trip to Coors against the Rockies. I’ll spruce up my argument for Bogaerts by letting you know that he went 5-for-11 at Coors earlier this year and has a .366 lifetime average in that great hitter’s ballpark! The Padres cap off next week’s full seven game slate with a series against a weak Marlins staff.

    Mickey Moniak – OF – Rockies – 22%
    Cole Carrigg – SS/OF – Rockies – 15%

    Speaking of Coors, it’s time to stock up on Rockies hitters. After a weekend series in Detroit, the Rockies return to Denver for four games against the aforementioned Padres and a series against the Mariners. That’s a full seven game schedule at Coors next week – gotta love it!

    By the way, Moniak is slumping lately but has been stellar at home so don’t be afraid to fire him up next week. He is hitting .286/.324/.638 at Coors with 18 of his 22 homers. He might be benched against lefties but it looks like the Rockies will face just one or two of them next week.

    Like Moniak, Carrigg has slumped over the past month (just .202). However, also like Moniak, he does most of his damage at home (.310 at Coors and just .217 away). Look for both to snap out of their slumps next week.

    Those of you in deep leagues and/or desperation mode can consider two other Rockies: Connor Norby (1B/2B/3B; 7%) and Kyle Karros (3B; 6%). I prefer Norby of those two. He’s doing well lately (.277 for the past month) and Karros has been on the injured list twice for a concussion.
