As I was searching through the ranks and looking over the stat lines of some top performers this year, I started to notice a trend of sophomore names popping out near the tops of each position, guys like Brenton Doyle in the outfield, or Zach Neto and Elly De La Cruz at shortstop. Notably, there were some high performing rookies that were missing from the tops of these lists, either due to performance (like James Outman) or due to long injuries (like Triston Casas, Josh Jung and Matt McLain).

Though at times it may seem like there is no value to be had, if you look wide enough and deep enough, winning pieces can be found. Sticking to the summer heat, I found some valuable players in the Arizona desert and the high humidity of South Beach.

Losing a player to injury can be even more difficult to replace, especially as fantasy league trade deadlines loom and the real life trade deadline has passed. Today I have two players who were affected by the trade deadline and find themselves in more productive roles than before, plus a Seattle outfielder whose production we can no longer ignore.
