Three of today’s four recommended pickups follow a similar theme: heavily rostered players who have fluctuated between being rostered in over half of all Yahoo leagues and being widely available.
The fourth? A hot-hitting, aging first baseman for the Yankees who has (at least for now) found a production elixir.
Let’s take a look at four names that could help your fantasy team right now.
*Note that all listed roster %’s are from Yahoo, at the time of the writing of this article. Almost all of our waiver wire recommendations are widely available across all major platforms, however. Stats are accurate as of Tuesday morning.*
Paul Goldschmidt – 1B – NYY – 12%
Yanks fans might have thought they were going to miss Aaron Judge when he was placed on the injured list with a stress fracture in his ribs, but Goldschmidt is doing his best to replicate the monstrous slugger while he is out.
In the eight games since Judge was placed on the IL, Goldschmidt has two doubles, two home runs, eight RBI, a 1.000 OPS and a 177 wRC+, but he’s been productive for longer than that. Since May 1, he has a 17-7-23-1-.299 fantasy line with a .915 OPS and a 156 wRC+, and he has been the eighth most productive fantasy 1B in that time frame.
It’s impossible to replace an all-time elite producer like Judge, but a former top fantasy producer who has seemingly found the fountain of youth isn’t a bad stopgap.
Carson Benge – OF – NYM – 44%
As an off-season Benge believer, I knew it was a matter of time before his production began to match his talent. After a poor April where he struggled to hit for any power and suffered with a terrible BABIP, May and the beginning of June have been far better for the Mets young outfielder.
Benge has 25 runs, five home runs, 20 RBI, four stolen bases, a .316 batting average, .873 OPS and a 150 wRC+ since May 1, good for the sixth most fantasy production among outfielders. He’s tied with Oneil Cruz for the 10th best OBP among outfielders and is fourth in runs since being moved into the leadoff spot on May 12.
Benge is a 25/25, high OBP, run scoring producer batting in front of two of the Mets best bats. He should be universally rostered at this point.

Noah Cameron – SP – KCR – 44%
Cameron had a very successful rookie season last year – one of the quietest top-35 seasons in the entire league. He finished as the 31st most valuable fantasy starter, one of just 17 who threw 130-plus innings and had an ERA under 3. His strikeout rate wasn’t elite, but he did a solid job of limiting walks and home runs.
He’s back doing all of those things this year – just better. He’s striking out more batters, walking fewer and allowing fewer home runs. He gets to pitch in a park that is a hitter’s nightmare and has an elite defense behind him. He had a rocky patch after his first few starts, allowing 20 earned runs over five starts, but he has allowed just six over his last five starts. Over those five starts, he’s allowed just six earned runs, one home run and three walks, striking out 31 over 30 innings, earning four quality starts in the process. He has a ground ball rate north of 50%, his ERA estimators support his ERA (1.80 ERA, 1.61 xERA, 1.78 FIP, 2.54 xFIP) and he has limited both quality and hard hit rate.
Jacob Latz – RP – TEX – 46%
Another week, another locked in closer freely available in more than half of all Yahoo leagues.
Latz has a save in his last four appearances and in six of his last eight (toss in a win for good measure), has allowed a run or more in just four appearances this season, with two total home runs allowed (over 29 innings) and a 29:6 K:BB. He has a 32.2% chase rate, 13.5% swinging strike rate and a 72.6% contact rate. He’s been the best weapon in the Rangers bullpen and has an extended leash.
So if you need saves help, why haven’t you ran out and picked him up?
