Game Total 222Key Storylines
Hungry Like a Wolf – After winning two in a row, the Timberwolves are atop the Western Conference standings. Rising star Anthony Edwards hasn’t quite hit the ceiling that some had hoped for this season, but he hasn’t really needed to with all the veteran talent supporting him. Though inconsistent, Edwards is still capable of elite production. In his last game against the Clippers, he put up 34-9-6. The question is how much of his offense will be needed tonight against the almost lifeless Pistons?
Mope-town – The Pistons are also coming off a win, their second since November 1st! Detroit doesn’t have much more to lose at this point. But with Cade Cunningham out at least the rest of this week, the lineup and rotation are very much in flux, leaving plenty of opportunity. Alec Burks went blistering hot with 34 points off the bench last game. Kevin Knox started and led the team with 19 the game before. Bojan Bogdanovic will return after being out the past two games, so he will bring an offensive lift, but the Pistons will still need scoring to keep up with the Timberwolves. Will there be another surprise offensive guest star tonight?
Stream of the Game
After his huge performance last game, Alec Burks should have opportunities to score. Rookie Ausur Thompson’s minutes had been trending down and had looked un-startable, but coming off the bench last game, his minutes went up and he came through with three steals. If he’s been dropped, Ausur’s ability to grab rebounds and defensive stats in bunches makes him a potential stream.
