    Key Storylines

Coming full circle – Since opening up the In-Season Tournament (IST) with a loss to the Bucks, the Knicks have won 10 of their last 13 games. In those games, Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle have been a fantasy windfall for managers. Randle has settled down since his early season struggles and has shot 47.1% with 1.7 triples, ten boards, 5.7 assists with 23.5 points scored per game in that 13-game stretch. His turnover numbers are not great, so keep that in mind. Brunson has been on fire from three-point land, shooting over 50% from deep in those 13 games. On top of that for this stretch of games, the former Maverick has averaged 3.6 rebounds from the point guard spot, 6.1 assists to just 1.7 turnovers, and 48.9% from the field. Brunson’s fantasy value is undeniable. His three-point shooting is bound to regress but fantasy managers should not fret. His two-point percentage is well off his career rate so do not be afraid of the inevitable 3-point shot regression. He should be a better finisher from close to the rim as the campaign progresses. Last year he shot 53.9% from inside nine feet from the basket. This season, he is shooting 44.7% from that range. So as he cools from deep, he should be better from close. Expect his scoring to stay in the low-to-mid 20’s range all season. And something else to note is Mitchell Robinson not getting in too much foul trouble. He is averaging a career-low 1.9 fouls per game, a full foul less per game than his career average. If he can stay on the court, and you can deal with the FT% hit, he is a great source of rebounds and both defensive stats.

Anything they can do, the Bucks can do better – The Knicks may have won ten of their last 13 but the Bucks have won 11 of their last 13 games. In those games, the Brook Lopez block party has been non-stop with him averaging over three blocks per game. Malik Beasley continues to shoot the 3-ball at an incredibly high percentage (46.3% in the 13 games). Dame and Giannis have been exactly what fantasy managers have needed them to be. Lillard has been able to maintain a healthy 18 shots and over eight three-point shot attempts per game this 13-game stretch. This is a trend managers hope continues as his usage was a big question for him going into his first season with a true star running-mate. His current 27.5% usage is only a little bit off the 28-30% usage he saw in Portland. With Pat Connaughton still out, the Bucks, and fantasy managers, will need Khris Middleton to find his stride. While it might be a dream to expect Middleton to provide the fantasy value we are used to, he can still provide mid-round value for the rest of the season.
