A major reason I wanted to start writing dynasty fantasy basketball content was to not only share my actual rankings, thoughts, and tiers but also teach others how to assess and analyze all the information at our disposal and how to become smarter dynasty managers. Personally, when finalizing my dynasty rankings (especially 350 players), there’s a massive amount of data and film I’ll examine, analyze, reflect on, and dwell on as I’m updating players’ notes and specific rankings. I’m more than happy to share those results and conclusions with you all, but an additional goal of mine is to share the why and how I get there. There’s the old adage, “Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”, and that’s basically what I want to accomplish.
Over the next few articles, I plan on detailing my thought processes and the work that I undergo when doing my dynasty rankings. To begin, I’m detailing the 12 players who were new arrivals in my recent top-350 rankings (and the 12 subsequent fallers) and describing why these players are ranked where they are for me. The current rank will be listed first, with the previous rank in parentheses. In the end, I’ll discuss some common threads as to the ranking changes as a bit of a teaser for future articles. Let’s dive in!
Goga Bitadze – 236 (N/A)
Bitzadze is a great example of one of my rankings philosophies, and the two-edged sword aspect of it – if I don’t think a player will be a part of an NBA rotation, there’s only so high I can rank them. Bitzadze had some flashes earlier in his career but didn’t appear to be consistent enough defensively to trust in the rotation. On the Magic however, Bitadze has improved his rim protection and earned his rotation role. He’s still a little too slow in my eyes to have a larger share of minutes, but becoming a credible rotation center with a fantasy-friendly game warrants this placement in my rankings. High block rates and efficient scoring are the tentpoles of Bitadze’s value, and he doesn’t need too many minutes to be a solid contributor in those categories.
Duncan Robinson – 259 (N/A)
