Fantasy Basketball Draft Guide 2026: Dynasty Buys and Sells

Buys and sells are always a funny concept to me. You’re trying to go somewhat against consensus and groupthink. Is Player X actually set to continue his production and therefore they should be a buy when everyone else thinks that their best days are behind them? Is Player Y getting overhyped even though they are in a better situation? Is the dynasty community overrating what Player Z actually provides from a statistical perspective?
These are the some of the angles I take when identifying players to buy and players to sell. I try to find that narrow pathway where excess value could be found by going against consensus. It may mean you’re taking a risk, but it could also mean you’re being ahead of the curve.
Remember — just because I think a player’s dynasty value is on the up doesn’t mean they can’t be a sell, and just because a player’s dynasty value could be on the decline doesn’t mean they can’t be a buy. Let’s get into the list!
Buys
Jalen Williams
Remember how last offseason Jalen Williams’ stock was soaring, enough to get him treated as a fringe top-10 dynasty player in some circles? An injury-riddled season dropped his stock massively. What changed for him outside of the fewer games and minutes per game?
The biggest difference was Williams’ lost faith in his three-point shot. In the 2024-25 season, Williams attempted 7.3 threes per 100 possessions, hitting 2.7 of them for a 36.5% conversion rate. What about the 2025-26 season? Those numbers changed to a paltry 4.0 threes attempted per 100 possessions, sinking just 1.2 of them for a 29.9% hit rate. If that doesn’t indicate a lack of confidence in his shot, let’s look at Williams’ catch-and-shoot three (CnS) numbers versus his pull-up three numbers over the last two seasons:

There isn’t much of a discernible difference between the two shot types, indicating that Williams struggled in general with his three-point shot. It is important to note that Williams played 32.4 minutes a night in the 2024-25 season versus 28.4 in the 2025-26 season and was rarely in rhythm thanks to serious injury problems, but that still doesn’t explain the notable difference in attempts between the two seasons.
The good news is that the rest of Williams’ production on a per-possession basis was essentially the same. If Williams can just approach his shot profile from two seasons ago, he’ll be right back towards the top of dynasty rankings at his previous standing snd there is ample reason to believe that could occur given the injuries Williams dealt with last season (wrist surgery last offseason and then hamstring issues). At the risk of being wrong, I’m willing to look past last season and credit his slump to the injuries and loss of confidence. Williams represents an excellent buy-low opportunity for a player entering his age-25 season, something that you rarely see in dynasty leagues.
