MLB Pickups of the Day for April 12th

  • Yandy Díaz

    Death, taxes and injuries.

Did anyone get through yesterday without losing someone off their rosters? Let’s take a look at some of last night’s action from the full slate and see who you might be able to find on the waiver wire to fill out your fantasy baseball teams.

Yandy Díaz 1B/3B, Tampa Bay Rays

I’m going to keep banging the drum for Yandy Díaz until the wheels fall off. He’s hitting at the top of the Rays’ seemingly unstoppable offense. He went 3-for-3 with his third home run, a walk, one RBI and three runs scored last night. He’s now slashing .303/.425/.606. Do we buy that he’s unlocked something and can stick with it? His 11-degree launch angle is well above last year’s 7.7 LA and his 5.2 LA. Only time will tell, but I’m riding the wave for now.

He left the game last night with a reported shoulder injury but was declared fine following the game, so we dodged a bullet there. Díaz is still only 57% rostered on Yahoo and 79% on ESPN, so check to see if he’s available if you need help on the corners.
