MLB Two-Start Pitchers – Week of September 18

  • Edward Cabrera

We’ll look into the slate of two-start pitchers who are under 70% rostered each week and make some suggestions that are hopefully available on the waiver wire to fill out your fantasy baseball roster.

Here are your two-start pitchers for this playoff week. Just be sure to check with FanGraphs’ Probables Grid and the MLB Probable Pitchers, as things can change with teams shuffling started and doing all kinds of weird stuff with six-man rotations, openers and bulk-relief roles.

    The Main Plays

Ryan Pepiot RHP (LAD) – DET, SFG

    Yahoo 61%, ESPN 36%
Even though Ryan Pepiot gave up four runs in his last start, it was really just two hits that did him in against the Padres — a solo homer and a three-run shot. He still went six innings and struck out five. Besides that slight blemish, his small sample size of five appearances and three starts still looks good. He’s sporting a 2.00 ERA, a 0.63 WHIP and a 20.4 K-BB% heading into his two-start week, where he lines up with two tasty matchups at home versus Detroit and San Francisco.

The Tigers have the second-lowest wOBA on the season at .297. Even though they’ve improved recently, they sit 22nd this month with a .312 wOBA and a .705 OPS. The Giants have the 19th-ranked wOBA at .309 but have been better this month at .339. I’ll still run the rookie out there for both starts in Dodger Stadium.
