    Injury News

    1. On June 9th, the Red Sox placed OF Wilyer Abreu on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain. He was already swinging the bat on Friday and all reports point to him being back on the field on June 20th, the first day he is eligible to leave the IL.
    2. SP Ryan Weathers was placed on the 60-day IL with a left lat strain on June 10th. The Marlins starter missed the first six weeks of the season with a left forearm injury and will now miss at least the next two months and won’t be eligible to come off of the IL until the middle of August. Tough breaks for a pitcher who looked ready to breakout after some great spring stats, hopefully he can come back from the lat strain fully healthy and have a great final five or six weeks.
    3. Diamondbacks RP Justin Martinez was placed on the 15-day IL with a right UCL sprain on June 10th, then was moved to the 60-day IL on June 15th as the team announced he needs Tommy John surgery. His 2025 season is done and possibly his 2026 before it even starts. He may not see a big league mound again until the 2027 season. Droppable in all leagues types, even dynast and keeper leagues.
    4. Mariners SP Bryce Miller was placed on the 15-day IL with right elbow inflammation, retroactive to June 7th. He received a PRP (platelet-rich plasma) injection on June 10th and will not throw for at least two weeks. Mariners GM Justin Hollander is optimistic he will be available to pitch again in four-to-six weeks if all goes well once he starts to throw again. That places him back on the mound after the All Star break.
    5. 3B Matt Chapman was placed on the 10-day IL with right hand inflammation, retroactive to June 9th. The Giants star visited a hand specialist on Friday and received good news regarding the injury. He will be required to wear a splint for a week before he can begin rehabbing this coming weekend. He could be back as early as the end of this month.
    6. The Royals staff ace, SP Cole Ragans, was placed on the 15-day IL with a left rotator cuff strain on June 11th, retroactive to June 8th. Initial imaging after the IL placement confirmed a rotator cuff strain, which mean he will be out for longer than the minimum 15 days. He should avoid surgery, for now, but until he has further testing, the extent of the injury and recovery will be unknown. He is supposed to get a second opinion this week, so we should have more news soon.
    7. On Thursday, the Mets placed their star starter, SP Kodai Senga, on the 15-day IL due to a right hamstring strain. The strain was labelled as a Grade 1 strain, which means he will be shutdown for two weeks of rest before he is re-evaluated. After the two weeks, the Mets will evaluate where he is at and the determine what his path to recovery looks like. He should not be expected back on the mound until after the All Star game, but before the end of July.
    8. The Twins placed oft-injured 3B Royce Lewis back on the injured list with a left hamstring strain on Sunday. After missing the first five and a half weeks of the season with a left hamstring strain, he will hit the IL for the second time for the same reason, though this strain is more mild than the first one. The expectation is that he will miss more than the minimum 10 days, but not nearly as many as the first time.
    9. SP Tyler Mahle was placed on the 15-day IL by the Rangers with right shoulder soreness, on Sunday. He was initially expected to make his next start after an extra day or two of rest, but the team’s bullpen was stressed after back to back days of using four or more relievers on Friday and Saturday, so they made the decision to place him on the injured list instead. He missed the final month of 2024 with shoulder tightness and has had various arm issues throughout his career. He is eligible to return as early as June 27th, but there is no news of a timeline at this time.
