Key Storylines

What’s Up Kelly?: Kelly Oubre was looking like a fantasy revelation before the accident, but his minutes and play have been subpar in the three games since his return. GMs should exercise patience, as an 11-game absence could have caused some rust and Oubre may need another week to ramp up. Head coach Nick Nurse did mention that Oubre may have only been a temporary starter when he was promoted post-James Harden trade, but he was playing 26-plus minutes a night as a sixth man before that. Give him a few more games before cutting loose.

Ausar is Awesome: The Pistons lost their 20th game in a row last time out, but Ausar Thompson returned to the starting lineup, putting up 20 points, six rebounds, two assists, one block, one steal and one 3-pointer in 33 minutes. Head coach Monty Williams has mixed and mashed lineups continuously, so nothing feels like a guarantee; however, Thompson seems like he’s too good to keep off the floor, especially with an extra spacer available in Bojan Bogdanovic now.

Stream of the Game

It is apt to remember that streamers are typically available because they aren’t reliably consistent, otherwise, they’d just be permanently rostered. Killian Hayes can provide assists and steals, while Jaden Ivey could pop off for some points, threes and assists if he plays well. Nic Batum is also a decent option for across-the-board stats besides points.

Key Storylines

Hey Murph: Trey Murphy III looked amazing in his season debut 12 days ago, but it’s been downhill since. That said, we know what he is capable of and GMs should exercise patience. He won’t shoot 66.7% from the line (albeit on low attempts) and he should convert a few more of his shots. The playing time is the only real concern since the Pelicans were only healthy for maybe one week last season when be broke out. Still, give it some time. With Zion Williamson (left ankle sprain) questionable though, Murphy could have a chance to shine.

No Wizardry Here: Uninspiring does not begin to describe the Wizards and it’s been a frustrating run for fantasy managers who invested in anyone outside of Kyle Kuzma or Daniel Gafford. Unfortunately, Jordan Poole was probably too high of a pick and his upside is too great to actually cut bait, so GMs will have to continue riding it out and hope that things turn around soon.
