Key Storylines

The Haliburton Replacement Committee: Last season, the Pacers were looking like a playoff team but they went 1-9 during a stretch of games when Tyrese Haliburton was injured. They are 2-0 through the first two games of Haliburton’s current hamstring injury, so they’re already doing better this time around. T.J. McConnell should help to steady the ship while providing dimes and steals for fantasy managers. The sidelined Aaron Nesmith would have been helpful with his 3-and-D quality, but the Pacers may have to turn to Buddy Hield or Bennedict Mathurin who excel more on the offensive side of the ball. We also should not forget to look out for Bruce Brown. His level of play without Haliburton is generally something to monitor, but it will also be worth seeing his return to Denver after he found success with them en route to a championship in 2022-23.

No Laughing Matter:  Nikola Jokic has been on a tear lately (by that, I mean the last four years). He isn’t scoring as much, but he is making his shots at a high rate (.746 FG% and .857 FT% in his last six games) and embracing the role of playmaker to the fullest extent. He even tied his career high with five blocks vs. the Pistons a few games ago. The Nuggets are a boring fantasy team since we know what to expect, but Jokic is always a joy to watch and continues to produce spectacular stat lines. The probable duo of Christian Braun and Peyton Watson should be good to go tonight with their positive designations.

The Pacers offer a number of streaming options. T.J. McConnell (55% rostered on Yahoo) would be the top guy if he is still available, offering you assists and steals.

Jalen Smith and Isaiah Jackson are also options for big-man stats, though Jackson could be hit or miss depending on his minutes.
