Fantasy Basketball Draft Guide 2026: Out-of-Position Stats for Bigs & Forwards

As the title already tells you, this is all about out-of-position stats for bigs. To be specific, we will be covering PF-eligible and C-eligible players who can produce value in threes, assists, free-throw percentage (FT%) and steals. We will be using the Yahoo positions for this article since that is the most popular platform, so be sure to scout the pre-draft rankings and positions if you are playing on ESPN, Fantrax or another platform. A SF, PF here might only have the SF position on another platform, and so on, but even in that case, this article will be a guide to some statistical strengths of certain players.
For each stat, I will cover early-round players (ADPs in Rounds 1–4), middle-round players (ADPs in Rounds 5–8) and late-round players (ADPs in Rounds 9–12).
So why are out-of-position stats even important? Thank you for asking.
- A team punting big-man stats might want a PF or C who can help them in a more traditional guard stat (threes, assists, FT% or steals) to contribute to their domination of said stat.
- You may not be punting, but you might have a lack of PFs or Cs on your roster and need extra help in what is more traditionally viewed as a guard stat (threes, assists, FT% or steals).
- You might simply like balanced players, so a PF or C who can contribute in guard stats in addition to big-man stats is a gem.
The projections provided are powered by the B150. Keep in mind that while there might be small changes in the B150 projections over the next few weeks, a player isn’t going to suddenly have their value halved in any of these stats unless they undergo a massive shift in their role and that would likely require extreme circumstances in most cases.
Threes
In 2025-26, top-100 players averaged:
1.8 threes (9-cat)
1.9 threes (8-cat)
While top-200 players averaged 1.6 threes per game in both 9-cat and 8-cat.
Anything above the top-100 averages would be a clear-cut positive, but for a PF or C, being around average for a top-100 player is still quite useful.

2026-27 Projection: 3.3 threes
Yahoo Position(s): SF, PF
While Tatum is PF eligible, he is pretty much just a big wing or big guard on offense. His pull-up 3-point shooting is an integral part of his playing style, no matter how much some fans may complain about it. Even last season we got 2.9 treys per game on 32.9 percent, but in 2024-25 it was 3.5 treys per game on 34.3 percent and in 2023-24 it was 3.1 triples per game on 37.6 percent. Tatum should continue launching from deep and will be an elite source of threes. You are getting assists on top of that as Tatum has become a great pick-and-roll playmaker, alongside FT% and steals for an all-around out-of-position stat profile, plus rebounds and a lot of points.
