A trio of pickups on the final Thursday of the season, with a super short term focus to propel your final championship push, fittingly headlined by a couple of veterans heading into favorable matchups, with one sneaky pick to add an extra couple games.

Michael Conforto – SFG – OF/DH – 13% ESPN

Conforto has quietly put together an excellent last two months to a contract year, posting an .869 OPS in August and an .831 OPS in September, and homering in three of his last six starts. A .490 xSLG and 76th percentile chase rate provide a solid background of season long production, but the focus here is with his next three games against the righty-heavy Cardinals.

Conforto projects to face three right-handed starters to finish the year, making it likely he’ll start all three games, and Miles Mikolas and Andre Pallante are rounding off poor campaigns. With the impetus of his impending free agency, I’d pick up Conforto after lock time on Thursday to ride out a hot streak for the final weekend of the season.
