It’s Tuesday and as usual we have every team in action on Tuesday and Wednesday this week which gives us plenty of players to consider as short term additions, as well as season long considerations. With James Wood being promoted last week by Washington there aren’t a lot of Blue Chip prospects left to hold your FAAB for, but still a few worth considering, including one this week There are also a few unheralded players that may not win you a league, but offer some appeal for the next few weeks. Tuesday offers us an intriguing left-handed hitting option in the Bronx, a two-start pitcher, a high level prospect and a deep sleeper. So let’s take a look at what is available.
Brooks Lee – SS – MIN – 39% Yahoo, 69% FanTrax, 63% CBS
Lee was drafted eight overall by Minnesota in 2002, is Minnesota’s #2 prospect and ranked 13th overall in MLB’s Prospect Pipeline. He was called up last Wednesday and has started seven straight for the Twins, collecting a hit and each game. In 85 and bats in AAA this season, he had a slash line of .329/.394/.635, which included five doubles, seven home runs and twenty-one RBIs. He currently qualifies at shortstop which is a very deep position in fantasy this season however, he has started at third in six games so could be an asset once he obtains third-base eligibility. Minnesota’s starting third baseman Royce Lewis is on the injured list with a Grade 2 right abductor strain and not expected to be re-evaluated until after the All-Star break, which leaves Lee a decent runway to prove he can hit at the major league level. If he continues to get on base the Twins will likely find a way to keep his bat in the lineup. Lee doesn’t provide much speed and isn’t expected to be a huge source of power, but with such a strong OBP, gap-power, and a low K% he will help in category and points leagues.
League size recommendation: All 12-team leagues or deeper.
