Key Storylines

The Pelicans have been flying as of late. They have gone 8-2 over their last 10 games and should have an easy matchup against the Pistons. Zion Williamson had started to pick things up over the past couple of months but has been in the middle of a slight dip in production due to some blowouts over the last week averaging just 17.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and a steal per game in 28.7 minutes. Due to the potential blowout nature in this one, Williamson could be in danger of another game under 30 minutes played. C.J. McCollum has unsurprisingly slowed down after a hot a start to the season but he has put together a strong stretch of top-70 value over the last week. Trey Murphy is starting to get some more usage with Brandon Ingram out, up to 22.7% over the last week compared to his season average of 19.2% per game. His shooting efficiency has been suffered a bit but a game against the Pistons defense might be able to get him back on track.

Lo and behold, the Pistons are on another losing streak after five games playing Miami twice, Boston twice and Indiana once. James Wiseman has started getting a crack in the rotation with Isaiah Stewart and Taj Gibson sidelined. He had a 24-9-4 line in 37 minutes in their loss against the Celtics which is very strong but the 84.6% field goal shooting is a red flag. He is the 75th-ranked player in per-36 projections over the last week and his production should be intriguing if he can continue getting around 30 minutes per night. Cade Cunningham’s shooting efficiency has been trending down over the last two weeks, averaging 38.9% across six games, and this has played a huge role in his dip in fantasy value. The Pelicans are well-rounded defensively so Cunningham may likely have some troubles with Herbert Jones guarding him.
