Steven AdamsC, Oklahoma City ThunderAdrian Wojnarowski reports that the Thunder have agreed to trade Steven Adams to the Pelicans in exchange for a future first-round pick and second-round picks.
The Thunder just keep on racking up picks. The writing was on the wall for Adams in OKC, and he'll depart as a beloved figure in franchise history. The Pelicans have been connected to some more old school bigs and Adams fits the bill as a guy who can provide toughness, rebounding and mentorship for a young squad. Last season wasn't one of Adams' best in fantasy, and New Orleans isn't a perfect landing spot considering the limited minutes Derrick Favors received last year, but this should be a steadier journey than Adams spending the whole year on a rebuilding team. The first-rounder headed to the Thunder will come by way of Denver, who dealt a lottery-protected 2023 first to New Orleans on draft night for R.J. Hampton.
