MLB Pickups of the Day for April 13th

  • Jorge Soler

Two weeks to the day from opening day, and while we aren’t out of wait-and-see mode entirely, some high ceiling pick ups are presenting themselves as options in the early season, with potential dividends to pay for months down the road. I’ll take you through four of those today, starting with a former top prospect, who may be on the verge of a breakout season.

    Jarred Kelenic

When Kelenic was traded to Seattle in the deal that brought Edwin Diaz to New York, many figured that within two years, the young CF would be starting every day at the top of the Mariners’ order. While that still hasn’t materialized, with Kelenic posting a cumulative -.5 FWAR over two up-and-down seasons, he now has homered in 3 straight games and has one of the top barrel rates in baseball through two weeks of the season. Definitely worth a pick up regardless of your outfield situation, with All-Star-level upside here.
