The chaos of the trade deadline is over, and now is time to take advantage before the dust entirely settles. Coaches still have to figure out rotations, which means someone is either getting left out or getting some extra run that might tail off in the near future. Below is an instant reactions list of buy and sell targets, but it’s not all-encompassing. The upcoming 2022-23 Dynasty Rankings LINK should give you the information you need, whether it’s a rising young stud or a veteran that’s about to fall off. If not, or if there are any players you feel like should have been listed in this piece, send the my way either ON TWITTER LINK or ON DISCORD LINK!
Buy
Mark WilliamsC, Charlotte HornetsOne of the most obvious buy candidates of the deadline, Williams should be a monster to close the year. It’s taken a while, and hopefully you bought before this, but elite big man stats without killing you from the line is always a recipe for a great fantasy player.
Bennedict MathurinSG/SF, Indiana PacersEveryone knows how fun Mathurin has been, and the scoring is definitely legit. But there are going to be managers out there who don’t see past the fact that he’s inefficient and doesn’t do much for 9-cat, and that’s where money can be made. The only rookies in the last 15 years to match his points per 36 minutes and free throw rate are Luka Doncic, Blake Griffin, Zion Williamson, Joel Embiid and Paolo Banchero. Mathurin may not do much outside of scoring right now, but that’s some elite company that shouldn’t be ignored when we know efficiency is one of the big reasons for a second- or third-year jump.

PJ WashingtonSF/PF, Charlotte HornetsSell
Kyle LowryPG, Miami HeatNot much explanation needed, Lowry has looked every bit of being almost 37 years old and the Heat were rumored to have been looking for some other point guard options. Just not someone to rely on moving forward, and there’s an argument to sell even if you’re contending with how quickly the fall off could be.
Jalen SmithPF/C, Indiana PacersSurprisingly, a 22-game sample size for Smith turned out to be somewhat of a fluke! If there’s anything to take away from the last year of the Jalen Smith Experience, it’s that playing with an elite point guard like Haliburton can make just about anyone look good. In everyone’s defense, a lot of Smith’s value was wrapped up in the seemingly inevitable Myles Turner trade, which instead turned into a career year and a massive extension. Waiting until there are some good games to sell might not be the worst idea, but those might be hard to come by with how far down Smith is on the depth chart.

Jakob PoeltlC, Toronto RaptorsBoth?
Cam ThomasSG, Brooklyn NetsShocker that Thomas’ value hit the tank once he wasn’t taking 20+ shots a night, wnsing one of the most obvious sell-high windows of all time. So obvious that it’s unlikely anyone fell for the trap. However, with his lack of minutes lately there’s a chance that his value has slid too far the other direction, where people are completely throwing out what he did across those three games. Thomas will almost certainly never be in a position to routinely take 25 shots, but getting to the line 13.3 times per-game in 35.6 minutes should not be ignored.
