Michael Harris was maybe the latest victim of the question “Why didn’t he get more hype?” in dynasty leagues and in the MLB landscape as a whole. So in this article, I am going to try and predict the guys who should be getting more hype and will pay dividends in 2023.
Endy Rodriguez – C Pirates
The 22-year-old catcher really made a name for himself this past season as a remarkable hitting prospect but somehow feels like he still needs more attention. The switch-hitter elevated from A ball all the way to AAA last year and had a slash line of .323 AVG./25 HR/.996 OPS. A notable tweak in the left side of his stance proved to be one of the main reasons for his late-season success in the minors. Rodriguez also showed extreme improvements in his plate discipline, with his strikeout rate decreasing with each promotion, 20% at A, 15% at AA and 13% in AAA. Although the sample size was small, it is encouraging to see the strikeouts decreasing as he gets more experience against higher-level pitchers.
