Working the Waiver Wire: April 13th

  • Jorge Soler

Just under three weeks into the season, composite stats are still relatively meaningless, but that doesn’t mean we can’t look under the hood for a quartet of waiver wire additions to boost your squad, headlined by a pair of White Sox prospects getting the call to the show.

Noah Schultz – SP – White Sox – 29% Rostered

The easy “must add” of the four, Schultz is in his third season as a consensus top 100 prospect, and it’s easy to see why. His sidearm delivery from his 6’10 frame has earned comparisons to Chris Sale and Randy Johnson, although those are a bit ambitious, but the big lefty’s fastball-slider combination has the making of an elite pitcher at the big league level.

Some inconsistencies with command tainted his numbers last season, but he holds a 1.29 ERA through 14 earnings in 2025, striking out 19 and allowing just four hits. The velocity is up, and his command appears sharper than it’s ever been, providing some promise that he could be coming into his own at age 22, and the fantasy upside of a breakout is far too great to ignore; his SP1 ceiling makes him a must add in every league.

    Anthony Nunez – RP – Orioles – 1% Rostered

Relief pitchers hold fantasy value more for opportunity than effectiveness, but in Anthony Nunez’s case, his excellent pitching has yielded opportunity, with his status as a trusted set up man solidified at the back of the Orioles bullpen.

In an age where every right handed reliever throws gas, Nunez does it more with his exceptional slider/changeup combination, both of which have great depth to differentiate them from his pair of mid nineties fastballs. 10 strikeouts and one walk on the season is a great start for his first seven games, and he’s now an ideal holds candidate for leagues where holds are rewarded.
