How’d We Get Here?
New front office, new coach, new roster and Detroit basketball is back. A new vision finally gave Cade Cunningham a supporting cast that made sense with a coach who wanted to be there and the Pistons claimed a playoff berth. With much-improved shooting and legitimate secondary scorers, the Pistons were able to leverage Cunningham’s talent and enable a star turn. The roles made sense and the players on the floor made each other better. Detroit played hard under the watch of JB Bickerstaff and while they bowed out to the Knicks in the first round, they gave New York a real scare and look like a team to be reckoned with going forward. It was a busy offseason for the Pistons as they turned over a couple key bench spots and lost starter Tim Hardaway Jr. while adding Caris LeVert and Duncan Robinson. It’s no surprise that Detroit continued to hunt out shooters and ball-handlers. The guys in charge finally have a grip on how to build a team for 2025.
