How’d We Get Here?
The Nuggets were in a little disarray at the end of last season after dismissing their coach and GM on the eve of the playoffs, and they ran out of steam in Game 7 vs. the eventual-champion Thunder in the second round after a hard-fought win over the Clippers in the first. Armed with an MVP and two key players from a title-winning core, new management understood the assignment and made a bold move to swap out Michael Porter Jr. for Cam Johnson. The Nuggets also focused their attention on rounding out a thin bench, pivoting away from a light youth movement by bringing in Bruce Brown, Jonas Valanciunas and Tim Hardaway Jr. Denver has the top-flight talent to beat anybody and they’re hoping that better depth can help win the day.
