Last week, we gathered all of the fantasy baseball analysts here at Sports Ethos and invited some of the sharpest minds in the industry from across the fantasy baseball spectrum to join us for a mock draft.
We settled on a 12 team, rotisserie style league, with high stakes standard rosters (2C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, CI, MI, 5OF, UTIL, 9P, 7B) and nothing but pride on the line.
Other than our own analysts, we were joined by:
Larry Schecter – @LarrySchecter on X – Author of “The History of Fantasy Sports”, 6-time Tout Wars & 3-time LABR champion, & one of the greatest fantasy players of all time
Pierre Camus – @endgamepierre on X – Co-creator of Fantasy endgame NFL & MLB, FantasyPros ranker, FSWA member
the Fantasy Gospel – @fantasy_gospel on X – CloserMonkey since 2020, contributed to BaseballHQ, was referenced in The Athletic
Britton Allan – @BrittonAllan on X – Can be found on the @PallazzoPodcast and playing in NFBC leagues
Daniel Rotter – @drot_6 on X – Formerly of SportsEthos, currently MLB, Fantasy Baseball content for @JustBB_Media, co-host of Baltimore Birdwatchers podcast
Many thanks goes out to the guys for joining us and helping us with a great, smooth mock.
Below, our own analysts share their draft strategies coming into the draft, favorite pick and least favorite pick.
NOTE: The draft took place March 3. The full results of the draft can be found at the bottom of the article!

What was your strategy for the mock?
I didn’t really come into the mock draft with any set strategy in mind. I’ve been in a few different mock drafts (plus a few actual drafts), so I kind of knew what I would do if I was drafting from pick 9 or later, so drafting in the 8 spot did not change much.
The only two things I had in mind were a) addressing power in as many early rounds as possible and b) rounding out my infield extremely early. If you look at the draft, I have everything but catcher addressed by the 8th round – 1B, 2B, 3B, SS and even CI. And I have five guys who can hit 30 or more home runs by then as well.
Also, waiting on outfield until after the 10th round blessed me with a wonderful three round run of Steven Kwan, Ian Happ and Taylor Ward, three guys who can be top 30 OF and they were all drafted at pick 128 or later.
Who was your favorite pick?
My favorite pick was Felix Bautista in the 9th round. He was the 8th or 9th closer off the board. He has looked fantastic this spring and could easily be the #1 fantasy closer at the end of the year. And he was drafted after a guy who may not even close for the entire year (Robert Suarez).
Who was your least favorite pick?
My least favorite pick is pretty obvious, George Kirby. Spring injuries and starting pitchers, name a better duo. #RIP (though having Paul Skenes and Luis Castillo as my top 2 starters in a shallow league isn’t bad at all)
