After a one-day reprieve, the NBA fired up the ol’ schedule machine and dropped a massive slate on us for a typically busy Monday. There was plenty to sort through and lots of moves to make, so we’ll dive right in with a familiar face who could once again take off in Charlotte.
Standard Leagues
(<50% rostered on Yahoo)
Vasilije Micic, PG/SG, CHA (1% rostered, Yahoo)
Tonight: 33 minutes, 24 points (5-11 FG, 1-3 3PT), two rebounds, four assists
Analysis: The stat line is almost immaterial. LaMelo Ball left after only nine minutes because of an ankle injury. Given his personal injury history, the state of the Hornets and the likelihood that he was going to get shut down eventually anyway, Micic could have an extended run as a starting PG coming up. He was a must-start guy down the stretch last season and the chance that he delivers again means he’s worth adding wherever you can. The upside is likely much higher than what you have with the current last player on your bench.
Kel’el Ware, PF/C, MIA (46% rostered, Yahoo)
Tonight: 43 minutes, 19 points (7-8 FG, 4-4 3PT, 1-2 FT), 10 rebounds, two steals, one block
Analysis: Add him already. What are we waiting for?
De’Andre Hunter, SG/SF, ATL (40% rostered, Yahoo)
Tonight: 32 minutes, 35 points (12-21 FG, 4-8 3PT, 7-8 FT), two rebounds, one assist
Analysis: Hunter hasn’t lived up to the 3-and-D reputation he had coming out of college but this season has seen him take a notable leap offensively. He’s become a consistent threat in points and triples and although the ice is still relatively thin without something more, Hunter has been brute-forcing his way to fantasy appeal. Anyone who plays a ton regularly with the potential to drop 30 points is worth your time.
Malik Beasley, SG/SF, DET (36% rostered, Yahoo)
Tonight: 23 minutes, 19 points (6-11 FG, 5-8 3PT, 2-3 FT), four rebounds, two assists, one steal
Analysis: Beasley is about as good as it gets if you’re just looking for points and triples. His sixth man role limits the ceiling somewhat but Beasley always works like he gets paid by the shot attempt, and there’s no more consistent option for multiple 3-pointers on any given night that you can find on waivers.
