Paul’s Fantasy Baseball FAAB Recommendations – Week 21

  • Note on the FAAB recommendations – We are at a point where some of you might be real low on FAAB. So if you really want some of the players I recommend, I would saw a good rule of them is to make sure you have roughly $10-15 left over the rest of the year and bid accordingly (roughly four more FAAB runs in roto, less in H2H’s). That way you have some leftover for potential injury replacements to finish off the year. But now is also not the time to hoard your FAAB (exception being H2H managers who are locked into a playoff spot).

    In order of roster% –

    12-TEAM LEAGUES (ROSTER%)

P Kade Anderson (58%) – SEA – Yeah, he is over the 50% threshold but that’s because of daily change leagues. He showed off his dominance in his first start through five innings before it unraveled in the sixth. This is the dude you want to blow you FAAB on (remember to leave at least SOME for injury replacements down the road). He has legit, league-winning upside. BID – All of your FAAB, saving just about $10 for future injury replacements

P Cal Quantrill (32%) – TEX – This man has been on fire and while he is, we got to keep rolling with him. This week he faces a Brewers offense that has been middle of the road in August with a 97 wRC% as they have been striking out a ton as a team with a 25% K% as a team. In Quantrill’s last five starts, he has a 1.11 ERA (2.42 FIP), 23.7% K%, 5.4% BB% and a 0.78 WHIP.  BID – 1-2%

P Jacob Webb (33%) – CHC – To my somewhat surprise, Webb got a vote of confidence as the team’s closer after his recent blow up. He has performed well, no doubt, but I really do expect Daniel Palencia to be the dude as the leash on Webb has to be short. But until the Cubs make that switch, he is a widely available closer for one of the best teams in baseball. BID – 3-6%

P Mason Montgomery (20%) – PIT – He got the first true save chance since the deadline and now the priority pickup for a Pirates team fighting for their lives as they have won five of their last seven. Montgomery has struckout the world and has started to limit the walks with just two walks in his last ten games. BID – 3-6%

1B, 2B, OF Jeff McNeil (19%) – ATH – Over his last 90 plate appearances, he has a couple of homers, four steals, 12 RBI and a .341/.360/.471 slash. He can lift and pull the ball and plays all of his games in Sacramento this week. SIGN ME UP! BID – 1-2%

P David Peterson (19%) – CHC – The ground ball pitcher extraordinare came back to the rotation after Edward Cabrera went back down and he delivered eight Ks in six innings of two-run ball. If it were not for one start were he was blown up for 10 earned runs, his numbers would be stellar as a Cub. Every other start he has allowed three runs or less (in those starts, it was just one start with three runs). Up next he gets the Reds outside of Cincy. BID – 2-5%
