Stephen CurryPG, Golden State WarriorsThe Warriors are likely to use their $17.2 million trade exception only for a "special opportunity," according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic.
The Warriors received the trade exception as part of the Andre Iguodala deal to the Grizzlies last summer and it expires seven days after the start of free agency. The report adds that the Warriors' currently luxury tax bill combined with the uncertainty over the reopening of the Chase Center are the main reasons for the hesitation. It also remains to be seen what Golden State does with the No. 2 pick in the upcoming draft which they could also package in a trade, together with the trade exception.
