Today, as we celebrate the scariest holiday of the season, we should consider what kinds of tricks and treats the waiver wire might be playing on us. As we watch the handful of games on the docket tonight, listen to Shaq talk about “them rangz Erneh” and eat up all of the “bad” candy that our kids got while trick or treating, let’s take a look at a few of tonight’s performances and see if we can’t scare up a productive player or two. Because sometimes, early season pickups are to die for.
Standard Leagues
(<50% rostered on Yahoo)
Santi Aldama, PF/C, MEM (42% rostered, Yahoo)
Tonight: 33 minutes, 19 points (7-14 FG, 1-4 3PT, 4-4 FT), nine rebounds, two assists, one steal
Analysis: Aldama started for the fourth time this season. So long as he is starting, Aldama needs to be rostered. He has averaged 32 minutes, 19.5 points, eight rebounds, four assists, 0.5 blocks, two turnovers, shooting 56% from the floor, 100% from the FT line, with 11 made three point shots. He has been a much different performer when coming off the bench, so once the Grizz are fully healthy and he is no longer starting he can be tossed back to the waiver wire.
Scottie Pippen Jr., PG/SG, MEM (41% rostered)
Tonight: 27 minutes, 16 points (5-8 FG, 1-3 3PT, 5-5 FT), three rebounds, one assist, one steal
