Key Storylines

Walker Kessler, Keep Walking: Kessler has begun to show flashes of what we expected from him; although, a dud was mixed in for an 18-minute outing last Saturday. Fantasy GMs need to remain level-headed through the ups and downs with Kessler. He is not a drop after every bad game, but at the same time, we do want to see more consistency from him.

Missing Pieces: The Cavs got two pieces of terrible news within an hour last Friday, with Evan Mobley being ruled out for 6-to-8 weeks and Darius Garland being ruled out for around a month as well. Donovan Mitchell (illness) is questionable for tonight’s game and the 37-point heroics he put together in Monday’s victory should be more commonplace over the next few weeks. If Mitchell misses out tonight, the Cavs will have to turn to Caris LeVert and perhaps Craig Porter Jr.

Stream of the Game

Collin Sexton is essentially a must-start player with the Jazz missing their preferred backcourt; however, he may already be on rosters. Talen Horton-Tucker is a fine second choice for counting stats, though he can struggle with efficiency and turnovers.

Caris LeVert has explosive upside and equally poor downside, but would especially be worth a go if Donovan Mitchell is out. If that happens, Craig Porter Jr. may also become a sneaky play for 14-team leagues and beyond.

Key Storylines

Charlotte’s Clarity: It would be wonderful to get clear news from the Hornets. We got a nothing upside on LaMelo Ball last week (progessing/waiting for further updates) and Mark Williams continues to be listed as doubtful and ruled out without further word on his condition. Proceed as if Williams is out until we get a more positive listing and continue enjoying the uptick of Terry Rozier, Gordon Hayward and company while Ball is sidelined.

Pacers Slowing Down: I mentioned a potential IST hangover for the Lakers last week, but the Pacers are 1-4 since the completion of the tournament themselves. Jalen Smith is questionable tonight after a multi-week absence and Myles Turner is also questionable. If you were streaming Isaiah Jackson, be sure to keep an eye on both of their statuses as Jackson could end up being out of the rotation.
