    Key Storylines

Giannis should be back – he missed the last game as his team ran into a Cleveland Cavalier buzz saw. But his probable injury designation is a good sign that he should be back for the afternoon contest in Detroit. In the world of fantasy, the Greek Freak was drafted in the middle of the first round and has not lived up to that draft position (assuming no punts). The bigger problem? It is hard to find a reasonable path to see him attain that by the end of the season. Forgetting his disappointing 9-cat year last year, Giannis had given first-to-second round value in the two seasons prior. He was hitting at least some triples but he does not shoot many of those any more (good in real basketball, a hit for fantasy value). And while free-throws have never been a positive for him, he did hit 72.2% of them when he hit first-round value two seasons ago. This year he is at 67.7%.

New-look Pistons frontcourt – With Isaiah Stewart ruled out for this game, Detroit will be down their starting power forward and could look to newly acquired Danilo Gallinari to make up some of those minutes. Kevin Knox has been getting some spot starts in lately and is a candidate to start. Mike Muscala, who got 15 minutes in his first action with his new team in the last game, is another candidate to see an extended role. Managers would be wise to avoid these players for tonight’s game as there is just too much unpredictability in trying to determine who fills the minutes void left by Stewart’s absence.
