• Welcome to Sunday Night Pickups: Fantasy Basketball Adds for 02/02! I don’t know where to start today. Yes, this is the pickups article, but as a Mavericks fan, my heart has been ripped out of my chest. The Luka Doncic-Anthony Davis trade will have long-term impacts on both the Mavericks and the Lakers, not to mention the league at large. To add to the hot stove, the Bulls, Kings and Spurs pulled off a three-team swap, with De’Aaron Fox getting moved to San Antonio, Zach Lavine to Sacramento and some picks and things to the Bulls.

    (<50% rostered on Yahoo)

Ayo Dosunmu, PG/SG/SF,CHI (32% rostered, Yahoo)

Tonight: 32 minutes, 14 points (6-9 FG, 2-5 3PT), three rebounds, five assists, one block

Analysis: With Lavine’s trade to the Kings, spot in the starting five should be solidified. He has performed much better as a starter than a reserve, shooting the ball far better (59.7% TS as a starter, 54.2% as a reserve), playing better defense (three times as many steals as a starter than a reserve) and just overall performing better. If the Bulls also move on from Nikola Vucevic, there will be even more shots available and not all of them will go to Coby White and Josh Giddey, so he could see his scoring numbers increase even more. He is one of the highest priority pick ups for the day, for me.

Ty Jerome, PG/SG, CLE (24% rostered)

Tonight: 27 minutes, 12 points (5-12 FG, 2-4 3PT), five assists, three steals, three rebounds

Analysis: Jerome has been the Cavaliers best overall player off the bench this year and continues has been a top 100 player for weeks now. Over the last two weeks he has averaged 17/3/3 with a steal and two threes, on 55%/86%, with just 1.6 turnovers per game. He has scored in double figures in eight of his last ten games and has been one of the best backups in the NBA, period. He should continue to lead the second unit while Caris Levert is out and should have a larger role carved out for when Levert returns to the court. I’ve rostered him for months in my 14 team league, but 12 team league managers should be picking him up as we speak.
