Welcome to Sunday Night Pickups: Fantasy Basketball Adds for 01/12! After a deep slate of games last week, this Sunday decided to just bring a 6-pack to the party. No matter, there were impact players who produced today and are available in shallow and deep leagues. Let’s take at look at all the action and see who we need to pickup today.
(<50% rostered on Yahoo)
Stephon Castle, PG/SG, SAS (29% rostered, Yahoo)
Tonight: 27 minutes, 11 points (4-8 FG, 1-1 3PT, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, one assist
Analysis: Castle has been on a little bit of a heater, scoring in double-figures in six of the last seven games he has appeared, including three straight games scoring 20 or more points. So long as Jeremy Sochan is injured, Castle will be in the starting lineup and making a larger impact than he does when coming off the bench. Add him and start until Sochan returns or the wheels fall off.
Kel’el Ware, C, MIA (14% rostered)
Tonight: 34 minutes, 25 points (10-19 FG, 1-5 3PT, 4-4 FT), eight rebounds, two blocks, two assists
Analysis: The rookie has been playing extremely well in January, averaging 12 points, six rebounds, 1.5 blocks and one three pointer while shooting 46% from three. He’s been a vital bench piece for a Heat team missing their identity and his production has him begging for more minutes. His upside is capped by Bam Adebayo, but his threes, rebounds and blocks are a boon whether he is starting or coming off the bench. Ware is a worthwhile pickup, until he slows down.
Nikola Jovic, PF/C, MIA (34% rostered)
Tonight: 24 minutes, 14 points (5-8 FG, 4-6 3PT), five assists, two steals, two rebounds
