In weekly head-to-head matchups, Saturday can be a day of excitement or anxiety. If you are fortunate enough to be able to have the luxury to look ahead to next week’s matchup, then good for you (there is a great name on this list that should be added today in advance of next week).
If you need a quick boost for the end of your week, then all of these names can potentially give you an added punch to push you across the finish line.
Lars Nootbar – OF – STL – 25% Yahoo, 26% CBS
Over his last 76 plate appearances, Nootbar is slashing .303/.395/.485 with two steals, two homers and 12 RBI. He is striking out at a low 15.4% rate and is walking at a 13.2% rate. The wOBA is .350 while has a wRC+ of 127.
He is finally playing up to what his expected stats and quality of contact numbers say he can do. Check these numbers out:
- xwOBA – .355 (86th percentile)
- xBA – .268 (77th percentile)
- xSLG – .466 (78th percentile)
- avgEV – 91.7 (88th percentile)
- hard-hit – 50.0% (93rd percentile)
- Chase rate – 16.9% (100th percentile)
- Whiff rate – 18.8% (80th percentile)
- Walk rate – 12.2% (92nd percentile)
This does not include his barrel rate of 9.6% which is “only” in the 64th percentile.
Managers who dropped Nootbar after months of underperformance have gifted another manager (me, in two of my leagues personally) with a truly awesome fantasy asset for the final weeks of the season.
He is now available in around 75% of Yahoo and CBS leagues and this is way too high and is sure to change in the coming days.
League size recommendation: 10-team leagues.
