Paul’s Fantasy Baseball FAAB Recommendations – Week 16

    In order of roster% – 

    12-TEAM LEAGUES (FANTRAX ROSTER%, Yahoo %)

    1B Josh Bell – MIN – 67%, 24% – He has bounced back from a very cold May with elite production since June 1. He has eight homers in 154 plate appearances while slashing .289/.344/.549. The 11.6% barrel rate and 45.5% hard-hit rate are not abnormal for him as he needs to be rostered, especially while he is hot like this. BID – 2-4%

    P Walbert Urena – LAA – 66%, 29% – I’ve recommeded him a few times already this year. The walks are a problem but he has done an incredible job limiting the damage. He has a 3.41 ERA over his last seven outings and a 23.1% K%. He has a two-start week so I figured this would be a good time to remind you he has better swing and miss than most ground ball heavy pitchers, making him a solid fantasy asset. BID – 3-6%

    OF Garrett Mitchel – MIL – 62%, 22% – He has a serious issue with his hit tool and he has a ground ball problem. And he is a platoon bat. All of this will keep me from going crazy with the amount of the bid. But we cannot deny that he has been on fire and the quality of contact metrics have been awesome. Over his last 94 plate appearances, he has a 170 wRC+ and a 353/.415/.565 slash with a 13.6% barrel rate and 52.5% hard-hit rate. Next week he gets at least four righties. BID – 3-6%

    P Brandon Sproat – MIL – 62%, 18% – His roster% has dropped due to two straight inefficient outings but I think that is a mistake that needs to be corrected. First he is due to face the hapless Mets followed by the Giants in San Francisco. Second, even with those two outing included, over his last seven outings he has a 3.55 ERA (3.75 SIERA), 1.12 WHIP and a 25.9% K%. BID – 4-9%

    2B, OF Tommy Edman – 61%, 22% – It seems the Dodgers are done slow playing him since coming off the IL with seven straight starts at second. He has been en fuego since in his first 81 plate appearances with a .343/.418/.486 slash. He has never been a hitter with great statcast data and that has never stopped him from being a good producer. But he does have a career-best 7.1% barrel rate and has been pulling the ball a ton. BID – 3-6%

    P Reynaldo Lopez – ATL – 61%, 26% – Since getting to five innings per start to open up July after returning to the rotation, Lopez has shown solid swing and miss (11.8% SwStr%) with a solid 23.7% K% and 6.8% BB%. The ERA is 3.60 (3.78 SIERA) and the WHIP is 0.93. He lines up for a two-start week against the poor hitting Padres and the not as scary as we thought Orioles. BID – 2-5%

    P Christian Scott – NYM – 59%, 23% – I feel like I have been banging on the Christian Scott drum since he just got lit up in his first start back from the IL. Last time I discussed him this piece, I mentioned the issues he had getting beyond five innings last time but that didn’t stop me then. Now he has gone 5+ in two straight outings. Over his last six he has a 2.76 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, 28.8% K% and a solid 3.51 SIERA. Get  him now before it is too late. BID – 5-10%
