Week 1 Injury Roundup

After months of anticipation we are back with the injury roundup for 2025. Week 1 brought us a relatively light list of injuries but still enough to make a fantasy impact as they did happen to key players.

Brock Purdy – 49ers – Shoulder/Toe

Purdy sustained injuries to his shoulder and his toe on Sunday’s win over the Seahawks. The nature of both injuries are unspecified but noteworthy enough to leave his status for Week 2 in question. If Purdy is unable to go, Mac Jones would get the start in his place. Jones is not a priority add as there could potentially still be quarterbacks like Justin Fields, Aaron Rodgers, and Michael Penix available as the three are 81, 14, and 33 percent owned in Yahoo leagues respectively. However, in a pinch this would be a good week to add Jones and start him as he would have a favorable matchup with the Saints.

Xavier Worthy – Chiefs – Shoulder

Worthy was injured in the first quarter of Friday’s loss to the Chargers when he collided with teammate Travis Kelce on a crossing pattern. Worthy suffered a dislocated shoulder and was undergoing additional imaging to see if there was a labral tear as well. He will miss some time, the length of time he will miss is not yet known but this puts the Chiefs in quite a bind. They are still without Rashee Rice for the next five games due to suspension so now the receiving corps is up to Hollywood Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster. Brown was targeted 16 times on Friday and he delivered with a very good fantasy game. He becomes a priority waiver wire add for Worthy owners.
