Key Storylines

Not ready to launch? – The Rockets’ recent trade for Steven Adams represents a stark contrast to the reports coming out of H-town on their plans. It was thought that Houston was looking to accelerate their rebuild by this deadline and were “star-hunting”. However, after sending off three second-round picks for an injured backup center, maybe Houston is going to be more patient than originally thought. Jake Fischer of Yahoo reports Houston is willing to part with Jalen Green for a player like the Nets’ Mikal Bridges or other “marquee wings”. So they are still hoping to be aggressive if the right player becomes available. But the deal for Adams that sent off Oladipo’s contract is a sign that Houston may not think that deal is in the cards.

Pacers still shopping? – After getting Pascal Siakam, the Pacers are still reportedly looking to add more pieces, especially to help shore up the defensive side of the ball. The Athletic’s Shams Charania reports they are interested in Andrew Wiggins and Michael Scotto of HoopsHype has linked them to the Cavaliers’ Isaac Okoro. Okoro would be easier as he wouldn’t require them to give up Buddy Hield to match salary. And Okoro is just 23 years-old on an expiring rookie deal. If the Pacers can upgrade their defense, they are going to do it as their offense can’t win a title by itself.
