The NBA announced on Friday that the Pelicans will take on the Jazz at 6:30 p.m. ET on July 30 in Orlando, the first NBA action since the league went on hiatus in the middle of March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
That game, the first of 88 "seeding games" that will be played between July 30 and August 14, will be followed by an immediate face-off between Kawhi Leonard and Paul George's Clippers and LeBron James and Anthony Davis's Lakers at 9 p.m. ET. Both of those first two games will be aired on TNT. On any given day, the start times range from 12-9 p.m. ET and there will be up to seven games per day. After the 88 seeding games, the postseason is scheduled to begin as normal, unless the team with the ninth best winning percentage in either conference is within fewer than four games behind the team with the eighth best record (regular season combined with seeding games) in the same conference. In that case, there will be a play-in tournament that will be double elimination for the eighth place team and single elimination for the ninth place team, to decide the final seed for the playoffs.
