Kawhi LeonardSF, Los Angeles ClippersMarc Stein of NY Times is reporting that Jeff Van Gundy and Ty Lue have emerged as the early favorites to become the next head coach of the Clippers.
Lue appears to suddenly be in great demand around the league with the Sixers, the Pelicans and the Rockets reportedly after him. The report says that the Clippers may have decided to part ways with Doc Rivers because they didn’t want to lose him to a contender, although this seems to be a stretch. Van Gundy meanwhile hasn’t coached an NBA team since back in 2007 when he spent four years with the Rockets. Look for more names to come up in the next few days although it’s almost certain that the Clippers will hire a veteran coach.
