Dennis Smith Jr.’s starting stint is over, as Elfrid Payton is expected to return after a two-game absence from an ankle injury on Wednesday when the Knicks face the Hornets.
DSJ had a strong game in Houston on Monday, putting up 15 points, five assists, seven steals and seven rebounds, but there were some defensive missteps and he committed three turnovers. With Frank Ntilikina still dealing with groin soreness Smith will likely get his minutes as the primary backup point guard and he deserves consideration in deeper leagues.
